Regina needs money to invest, with her brothers, in a business owned by William Marshall (Robert Brown). Her husband Horace refuses. Regina's nephew Leo steals negotiable bonds from Horace's bank to give the brothers, and when Reginia tries to blackmail them Horace claims the money was a gift. Furious, Regina withholds Horace's medication knowing he will die without it. Horace dead, she forces her brothers to give her two-thirds of their business. Her daughter knows what has happened and leaves her. The production starred Lee Grant as Regina Giddens, Carroll O’Connor as Horace Giddens, and Burgess Meredith as Ben Hubbard. This production appeared at the Westwood Playhouse in Los Angeles in 1973. Robert also appeared in an earlier production in the 1940s in New York starring Walter Matthau and Elaine Stritch. Robert understudied the part of Leo Hubbard, and serving as stage manager.
