The Last Hurrah
A big city mayor school politician Frank Skeffington (Carroll O’Connor) runs for re-election one last time in a world where political machines have gone the way of the dinosaur. Adapted from the 1958 movie starring Spencer Tracy, the story originated in a novel by Edwin O’Connor. Robert Brown plays Skeffington’s long-time friend Nat Gardiner. The made-for-TV movie, made in 1978, also featured Burgess Meredith, Dana Andrews, John Anderson, Jack Carter, Arthur Franz, Mariette Hartley, and Patrick O’Neal.
