The
construction of an interstate highway always has an effect on the small town businesses it bypasses, and it's usually not
positive. As a child I remember the nearly weekly trips through Beaumont, California in route to Idyllwild in the mountains
from the coast, and how the two-lane road would widen to four at Beaumont where we would pass the friendly little independent
motels. In this case it was a roadside business of my uncle, Dave Frey.
Location:
Since there was no actual Moonlight Motor Inn it's kind of difficult to locate, but my imagination puts it in the vicinity
of the Sunset Auto Plaza on the South side of the old highway.
