‘Songs of Local
History’
Follow John Malcolm Penn in a rousing 1850's costumed performance of original songs and
stories in timeline form about the local area we live in, its history, and its people. It’s ‘So much fun, you’ll get historical!’
The show
is adaptable for schools, corporate, community, special events, and private parties. Students will enjoy the tie-ins to History/Social Studies Framework for local and California
history while interacting in sing-along and participatory devices, and also learn about the creative process of songwriting,
performed on folk instruments used in the eras in which the songs are presented.
John
is a roster artist for the Orange County Performing Arts Center performing historical music shows for community events, schools
and libraries, and in addition, teaches at the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Summer program. He is a renowned songwriter with
songs currently on satellite and BBC radio, and has released several CDs with songs about local history.
