Beyond the pale blue of the sky . . .

I've been into Astronomy since I was 10.  For the past decade I've done a lot of imaging of things Astronomical.  The early efforts have concentrated on deep sky objects, but beginning in July 2003, the emphasis shifted to planets and the Moon using webcams and digital cameras.

I've recently been using a Syntah 127mm aperture f/12.1 Maksutov telescope from Orion Telescopes.  I and five other people have found this to be a great little telescope.  It has significantly more image sharpness and contrast than the more popular Schmitt-Cassegrain telescope (SCT) design.  It offers views comparable to a similar aperture size long focal ratio Newtonian, or a slightly smaller long focal ratio refractor.  Most of my planet images on these pages were taken with this fine little telescope.  So far not many deep sky images, but it should perform quite well on those as well.
