Candidate Statement:
As a standards development participant, to working group chair to my participation in IEEE Standards Association committees and board, I have strove to drive user and industry consensus on important areas that demand standardization . From my very first role as participant in the development of standards, I recognized that their impact was global and mandated global interactions from all who are impacted by the IEEE standards offerings .

I have been a proponent to simplify the standards making process within the IEEE to ensure consistency of policy across many societies . At the same time, I helped shape the corporate standards process by bringing standards activities into the Standards Association with the support of the Corporate Advisory Group . These projects have helped refine the corporate standards process . From this process, I believe we have seen improved transparency of corporate positions, improved funding support by corporate entities and a realization that the IEEE standardization process can be rapid .

But there is more good standardization potential the IEEE can do . We are at a point in time where the respect of the IEEE standards is high yet perceived as not as inventive in the support and creation of new standards development methods . I would work to explore and benchmark the attributes to understand how they could be applied to current and new standardization techniques . I seek your support to enhance the vitality of the IEEE standards process .
