We spend a night well below freezing and do not leave our tents until the sun hits the crater. After breakfast
we being the relatively short but very steep climb to the summit. We record the profound moment by taking pictures
that will give us bragging rights for life.
After as much reflection as we can take in the cold, we begin the descent re-invigorated by our success and
convinced that the difficult part is over. Wrong again. The day and a half descent caused muscle aches that hurt
for the next four days. Nonetheless, we plowed down the mountain toward the showers like lemmings toward the sea.
