Reader's Digest Version for those who don't want to become too invested:  we spent 3 weeks primarily on the coast of Queensland.  We snorkelled and scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef; went inland and saw wallabies, kangaroos, bats and lava tubes; sailed around the Whitsunday Islands for a week on a 32' Beneteau.

Highlights:  Bats in the Botanical Gardens in Sydney; everything in the the Great Barrier Reef; really good coffee (instant or espresso only, no Mr. Coffee here!); surviving 25 knot winds and 6 foot swells; sunsets and night skies in the Whitsundays; feeding kangaroos at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary; barramundi with pesto risotto; Strongbow cider and Cooper's Porter beer.

Details, and descriptions of some of the surprises we encountered, on the following pages.
