Safety and Payment Information for New Ebay Users

Doing business over the internet with people you never see or talk to in person carries risks for both buyer and seller.  One of the goals of my business is to provide a safe shopping environment for you.  Some of the ways I do this are:

·       Accurately describing my antiques and collectibles (including item size and flaws)

·       Disclosing shipping/handling/insurance charges for every item

·       Including clear pictures of the actual item

·       Maintaining a level of customer service that assures very high feedback

·       Accepting returns if the buyer isn’t happy with the item

·       Insuring all packages against loss or damage

·       Bonding my sales through Liberty Mutual (BuySafe)

To keep myself safe, I have established a policy for types of payments I accept.  Although virtually all my customers are honest, there are people who use Paypal to pay for things with stolen credit cards.  Paypal protects the seller only if the merchandise is mailed to a confirmed address.  If a package is mailed to an unconfirmed address, the seller can potentially lose the amount of the sale, the cost invested in the merchandise, the mailing and insurance costs, and a penalty Paypal charges for accepting a fraudulent payment.

I am happy to accept Paypal payments from U.S. and international customers.  For customers who do not have substantial ebay feedback (which I define as feedback from over 30 sellers going back more than 3 months) and wish to pay through Paypal, I ship only to a confirmed address (which is the address to which the credit card statement is mailed).  If a buyer has substantial ebay feedback from prior transactions, I feel confident in mailing to an unconfirmed address.  I do not ship to unconfirmed addresses for customers who have less feedback.

At this time only addresses in the U.S., U.K., and Canada can be confirmed.  If your address is unconfirmed, payment alternatives are:

U.S.:

·       Checks

·       Money orders

International:

·       International POSTAL money orders (available in some countries)

·       Bank money orders (Canada ONLY)

·       Western Union money orders
