A wise dog-expert I know said...

"I hope you know that Flash is a very special dog.  They are not all like him...and even more, we only have one first agility dog.  You are very lucky".

Yes I am.  No doubt about it.
Art Brest, proud teammate and rookie handler, of
Hidden Valley Brilliant Flash AX AXJ XF.

During a weekend handling and training seminar with Rhonda Carter,  she had this to say:
"...your dog's a genius!"

This is Flash's page.  He loves his people.  Once you have earned that status, you will forever be greeted by a panting doggie smile, sweeping tail wags, and then lapped by a tongue that African Chamelions would kill for...

Flash's owner:
Art Brest, Tualatin, Oregon.  Art is forever 49, and  learned about dogs from his dad, who was a German Shorthaired Pointer breeder, raising GSP's for hunting, show, obedience, and field trials, particularly retrieving trials.  But after years away from raising dogs, Art acquired his first Border Collie, Casper, with the goal of training him as a Mobility Assistance Dog for his wife, Terri, who was severely disabled by Multiple Sclerosis.  Casper became an amazingly capable Service Dog, and served Terri well for many years. He retired from that job, and now spends his time helping Art raise me, and soon, my little brother Sunny!

Flash's Breeder:
Donna Polka, Hidden Valley Border Collies, Grants Pass, Oregon.  Donna has devoted years of her life to developing one of the finest lines of Border Collies to be found in North America.  Donna  does not "cater" to a specific discipline such as conformation or herding.  Instead, Donna's Hidden Valley Border Collies are bred for versatility and the ability to excel in whatever job given, whether it is high performance Agility Trialing or Herding, Obedience, Conformation, or pure companionship.  Visit Donna's website by clicking on the link above.  Unlike breeders of less developed lines, Donna proudly presents incredible pedigrees of all her own dogs on her website.  I'm extraordinarily proud to be a Hidden Valley Border Collie!

Flash's Littermates:
Flash is very proud of his brothers and sisters!  He came from a litter of 8 puppies....  Mom's name is Ignited in Red (Reddy), owned by Donna Polka in Oregon.  My dad is HTCH Hidden Valley Prospector OA OAJ TD FDCH HXAs, known as Bid, and owned by Billy Trent in California.  Flash's brothers and sisters live in states all over the country, including New York, Maine, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, and Virginia!  Flash, of course, live in Oregon.  You can find out all about them and even see pictures by visiting Flash's breeder's webpage, at Hidden Valley Border Collies.  Flash's litter has become known as "The Mensa Litter", for their incredible intelligence and accomplishments.  Of 8 pups in the litter, 6 are titled in one or more disciplines including Herding, Agility, Obedience, and Tracking.

My Name:
Everybody hears my name and thinks that I must have been chosen with Agility in mind.  Not true!  My pal, Casper, has lived in my home for over 13 years, and he's raised two kids and taken care of my Mommy-Terri as a Mobility Assistance Dog.  He's an amazing guy, who was trained to open doors, help people get up after they fall, find and bring back phones, TV remote controls, towels, canes, pick up pill bottles, and screen visitors.  He can learn anything in no time... and it was Casper that sold the entire family on Border Collies.  When he wasn't working or tending kids, Casper loved (and still does) to play.  More than anything!  He especially loves it when people try "to get away".  Wear your best poker face and think about running away, Casper can look at you and tell if you are even thinking about trying to make a break for freedom.  He was so fast at heading people off that dad always told him he was "like lightening".  Casper loves to be told that.  So... when I came to my home, people didn't know what special things I had to offer, but they decided that I'd be "Border Collie Smart", and "Border Collie Fast"...  like lightening.  And so, the name chosen was Hidden Valley Brilliant Flash.
