Recognition phase is time to thank everyone and reward the your teams hard work. Thank your sponsors and
mentors, do not spend a lot of money on them. They did not give your team their time and/or money for you to spend
it on them. Look at a team signed picture, recognition in the papers, going to their business and thanking them in person.
Is the program benefitting the students? How? Your sponsors are in business, show them that the investment is worth
the money. A banquet can be an ideal place for recognition. Recognize the events that went well
and who helped organize them. If you want team players, sponsors, and mentors to come back next year, it is important
to thank them this year.
Safety System
Thank the safety Captains
for their efforts in keeping the team safe from harm. Look at members of your team and have a safety award for the person
who showed great safety practices. This is a time to recognize what went right in your system and celebrate the successes
and work to fix the things that did not go quite right.
TEAM SYSTEM
Sponsors, team members, mentors, advisors, school administrators, community leaders. Thank everyone and
thank them often. Look at the people who even gave your team and the FIRST program a little support and a little recognition
may create more support. Recognize the rookies and team leaders, find the good things everyone did and show them the
appreciation for a successful season. Elect or appoint your new team leaders during this phase so they can hit the ground
running in the summer.
Archive System
Get the records for this season in order and make them available for everyone to review. Find the
little and big lessons learned and get them documented. Look at the graduating seniors and their inputs and experience.
If mentors will not be back next year, get their inputs to put in your records. Document it all and prepare for what
you can use next year.
Robot System
Do not put that robot away yet... take it to your banquet and let everyone see what you have accomplished over
the year. Many people still may not have seen your robot and its capabilities. Keep it working so you can use
it in your recognition of sponsors, mentors, and other supporters.
OUTREACH SYSTEM
This system is important during this phase. It is the system that will help with the recognition
and plan the events.
Financial System
The budget should of had money put aside for recognition, banquets, and thanking people. Time to close
the books and prepare for heading into the formulation for next season.
