4-Hers
invited to learn about youth exchange programs
McLean
County Association for Home and Community Education will host an International
Studies program on Germany, Monday, March 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McLean
County Extension Auditorium, 402 N. Hershey Rd., Bloomington. The program is
free and open to the public.
Bloomington resident Lauren Karplus, who spent a year in Germany after taking
part in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange, will be the featured guest. Her
presentation will cover German lifestyles, politics, customs and foods. She
will also demonstrate the preparation of some German dishes, with samples and
recipes included.
One of her goals during her time in Germany was to become more fluent in the
German language. Since she returned home, Lauren has graduated early from
Normal Community West High School and is now a student at Heartland Community
College.
Lauren has been a McLean County 4-H member and encourages other 4-Hers to
attend this program to learn more about the exchange programs available to
students in McLean County.
