What Do the Unwise Say?

"The fool says in his heart, there is no God." Psalm 14:1

What does the unwise person say? He says that there is no God! Of course sometimes he doesn’t say it in this blunt a manner. Sometimes he disguises his claim in "intellectual" or "scientific" sounding language such as:

The conventional concept of God is dead. We must find new ways to discuss the concept of god.

Jesus, as the incarnation of God, is not a reasonable concept.

The Biblical story of man’s creation in the image of God is just a myth.

It is impossible for Jesus to have been biologically born of a virgin woman.

The miracles of the Bible, including the New Testament, were not supernatural actions of an omnipotent God.

The concept of Jesus’ death on the cross as an atonement for our sins is merely a primitive idea of God.

The physical resurrection of Jesus is a scientific and historical impossibility.

Jesus didn’t really ascend into heaven, nor is He seated at the right hand of God.

The Scriptures are not valid, absolute standards for the governing of our lives.

God is to be found in every human being, and therefore they must be accepted for whatever they are and do.

People are basically good, and therefore they have no need for a savior.

All of these things are false. They are just different ways of denying that God exists, and that He is the God of the Scriptures.
