Class Expectations:

Cooking is my passion... it is my favorite thing to do. I also love to read, garden, hike, watch movies and play the flute (and occasionally the ukulele!) I love antiques, birds, animals and flowers. I also love clothes and shoes... but that's a whole other story (just ask my loving husband, Tom.).

I come from a long line of educators. Both of my parents are retired school teachers. My mother was a reading specialist and my dad taught the sixth grade. In fact, he was my sixth grade teacher! My maternal grandmother was also a teacher. I’ve always loved children and have volunteered throughout my life in both daycare and pediatric in-patient hospital facilities. I feel so lucky to be working with them now as a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist.

I just moved to California from the East Coast, where I worked for three years at a K-6 elementary school in the rural town of Swanton, Vermont. I also worked part-time in a high school summer program, and as a Home Health SLP with children ages birth to three. My job is really a dream come true!

Before that, I held a variety of unique and interesting jobs, such as a buyer for a vintage clothing boutique and a sales support coordinator for Verizon’s business customers.

Everyone is different, and it’s important to celebrate these differences. I want my students to understand that there are different ways of learning, and knowing how one learns and embracing it is one of the keys to lifelong success. It’s just as important to understand yourself and advocate for your needs as it is to learn new skills. School can be a fun, positive and growing experience (especially in speech and language class!)
