Biography: |
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with my two older brothers. I loved to swim, most of all. I was on a swim
team and, by age11, got into synchronized swimming, which I continued through part of high school and again in college. Living
in Wisconsin, my family enjoyed "the seasons." (We actually HAD seasons there!) We went camping in the summer, and went skiing
in the winter. (We also shoveled a whole lot of snow! We all had to help shovel. One year, my shovel mysteriously disappeared.
We "found" it again the next spring when the snow melted on our front lawn.) My father made our backyard into an ice rink
every winter, and we were the neighborhood attraction (duh!). But, autumn was my favorite time of year. I loved the colors,
and I collected leaves, pressing them between waxed paper, and slipping them inside of big books. I still find leaves, perfectly
preserved (but very fragile) from those long ago years, inside of some of my "old" big books. Later, we moved to a 5-acre
piece of land sort of in-between the suburbs and "serious country." There, I learned to drive a tractor, enjoy the Queen Anne's
Lace on our land (which looked like fields of snowflakes to me...too pretty to be called "weeds," yet that's what my mother
insisted they were), and watch the pheasants scoot around the field from our huge picture window. Two of our neighbors had
horses. I would watch their horses from the fences, but never became a rider. Ah, but I reminisce! I guess those were the
"good ol' days."
When I was in high school, I had to make the difficult transition to Southern California. I tasted Mexican food for the
first time. I walked OUTSIDE between classes at school, which seemed very odd to me. I missed the seasons. I went to a high
school (San Gabriel H.S.) without a swimming pool (aaaaiihh!). I got involved in Drama and journalism, which involved working
on the school newspaper. These two loves of mine still shape my life...entertainment and writing.
Although I've had many jobs over the years, teaching has been most important to me, and has been my main career choice.
I like it here at Sellers School. I like Glendora. I am finally used to NOT having "real" seasons.
My late-in-life twins, Joelle and Wesley, keep me hopping. They are involved in many activities after school, keeping Mom-the-Chauffeur
busy. They have just turned 13 as I write this, and are in 8th grade at Goddard this year. Homework consumes our evenings
after we get home from their activities "du jour." We get to bed late!
That's my life. The "me" stuff is visiting either Kaffee Klatch or Starbucks daily, doing crossword puzzles, and dealing
with our many animals (tortoise, guinea pigs, shih tzus). One of our little dogs is an escape artist. He manages to squeeze
through impossible cracks to escape our yard. We are constantly finding him outside the yard!

Class Expectations: |
The most...the best...the nicest! That's all I expect from my class. I have a wonderful group of kids this year, so I know
I will get that. And, I will try my best to prepare your child for fourth grade, teach the state standards, and have fun while
doing it with interesting activities. I am looking forward to a great year!
