Pat Black - 3rd Grade

Teaching History:

I began teaching in Glendale Unified.  First, in the southwest part of Glendale and later in La Crescenta near my home.  During this time, I taught both elementary general education and elementary special education through sixth grade.  My family eventually relocated to the East San Gabriel Valley and I came to Glendora Unified to be closer to home.  I’ve spent the last eight years teaching at La Fetra.  I was the resource specialist for six years before moving to fifth grade for the last two.  When LaFetra needed to lose a teacher due to declining enrollment, I volunteered to come to Sellers.

Education:

I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College and a Master’s of Education from Azusa Pacific.  I have a Clear Multiple Subject Credential, a Clear Special Education Specialist Credential, a Resource Specialist Certificate, and a Cross Cultural and Language Development Certificate.

Biography:

I grew up in Alhambra,  California and went to Alhambra High.  I relocated to La Crescenta soon after my first child was born and raised my two girls in there.  They are now grown and married to wonderful young men.

I enjoy reading, playing with computers, digital photography, and family history research.  I also enjoy traveling on trains.  Every summer I take a “solo” vacation and just explore some part of the country.  Last summer, I took a train from Portland to Chicago and then back from Chicago to San Francisco.

Class Expectations:

My class expectations are that my students will become life long learners and work hard to develop their own unique abilities to find success.  I believe that all people are valuable for who they are and that we need to guide, support, and cherish that individuality.
