We're back!

With our best wishes to you and yours
for a Joyous, Peaceful 2004!

Dear Friends,

Christmas has twice lapped our last Holiday Letter − Easter 2002 − and we don't want you to worry that we are demented, divorced, disgruntled with you or dead, so we are determined to get one out for the New Year.

So here is the brief version of what we've been up to lately:

The kids are great, the grandchildren are delightful, and Emmett reapt a professional honor. Shan challenged Emmett's love of the predictable by morphing from an omnivorous over-paid RAND researcher to a vegetarian AFSC peace and justice activist. After a period of adjustment, made more difficult by the death of Shan's dad, we have found a new groove, trying to keep healthy1 by dancing, playing scrabble and weighing-in every morning to solve x = Emmett's weight − Shan's weight. After months of watching x shrink and making excuses about why she couldn't exercise, Shan is now running each morning at 6 hoping to get back to x ≥ 45 while the ever-saintly Emmett prepares her cappuccino.
