Meet Dr. Jonathan Jeffries & Family
Dr. Jonathan & Heather Jeffries, Sarah Catherine and David
My family and I are excited about joining the Creedmoor United Methodist Church family. We feel that God has led us here. We have no idea why, or what the future holds, but Heather and I feel that we were prayed into this place. What does the future hold for Creedmoor United Methodist Church? God knows. He has a perfect plan for us. His plan is to prosper us and not to harm us. His plan is to give us a hope and a future.
In 1989, I graduated from high school and entered North Carolina State University in their Pre-med program. I had big plans to be a doctor. I felt God calling me to vocational ministry and figured this would be a wonderful way for me to live the way I wanted, and to serve God by being His hands of healing. Little did I know God had a more perfect plan for me than I could ever have envisioned.
This biblical text comes as the people of Israel are in exile in Babylon. Everything they knew had been taken away and/or destroyed. God said to the people that it will be all right. I have great plans for you. Plans to prosper you and to give you a hope and a future. This did not take away their concern, or their fears, or their worries, but it was some assurance that maybe God was with them. It also turned out to be the truth. God did have a plan for them and would restore Israel and prosper her.
During my years in college, I can say with assurance that I wandered in the wilderness before I let God take over. After giving up the dream of having a lucrative medical practice, I placed my trust in Him. I placed my life in His hands and He did not disappoint. It was then His promises came true in my life.
I met Heather and eventually married her. I went to Duke Divinity School and graduated with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology. Heather and I have two beautiful children - Sarah Catherine and David. I had the privilege of obtaining a Doctor of Ministry degree. Where doors have closed, others have opened. God has been true to His word.
