"Santa Fe Crossing Computer Club" 

*History*

The Club, founded June of 1995

Club is open to seniors who are 55+.
      *Charter Members*
Billie Crowder, Charles L.'Chuck'Williams,
Dorothy Gay, Joyce Bark

Robert E.'Bob'Rainey

It operated under the name
(Senior Citizens Computer Club)
     until May of 1999,
On that date the name was changed
            to
"Santa Fe Crossing Computer Club"
It has been sponsored by the
City of San Angelo Senior Center.
 Membership has been as high as
      ( 800+ members) 
 Club Meetings are held each
Thursday 3:00PM to 4:15PM
    Station 618. 
Typically 19 to 60 members
attend each meeting.
Computer classes are scheduled on
Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday /
Thursday & Friday.
  To take Computer Classes
members of our club must pay
a yearly fee of $25.00 to Center
 If Members don't want to take
classes there is no charge.
  It is up to the members to
contact the club about any changes
made to their information.
 Number Center gave them if they
paid the fee, Phone numbers,
Also if they want to be changed
to a non fee paying member when their
fee comes up to be repaid.

The Club moved into the
new building at Station 618
in June 2002. 
The new building is equipped
with Dell Computers. 
The computer classroom can
accommodate 12 students for
hands on training. 
The computers are connected to
the internet through a DSL line.

NEW RULES FOR
Santa Fe Crossing Computer Club
in the year of 2009

*the Club is no longer responsible
 for scheduling classes,
 only Rec. Staff handles scheduling;
*all classes are open to any Senior
 who pays the $25.00 yearly fee;
*Club members have the option of
 requesting Lab time to teach classes
 and/or offer Computer type activities
 as they always have;
*Club members who teach, can even
  receive payment for teaching,
  or they can volunteer teach;
*Any Senior can join the
  Computer Club at no cost;
*the Computer Club is now
 solely responsible for
 generating their own
 members list just as the
 Tap Dancers / Line Dancers/
 Oil Painting / Crochet /
 China Painting /Mah Jongg players
 
** Life is full of changes & the
  Computer club will be making
  lots of changes in 2009 **
