IT: Communicating with ESA terminals is even easier
With the family IT of products ESA elettronica consolidates
one of its fundamental features: the large availability of communication drivers and the extreme flexibility
of their use. By using any panel in the IT series it is possible to realise an application using two PLCs, both equipped
with Ethernet interface, with different communication protocols, as for example Modbus TCP and Industrial Ethernet.
Alternative 1
The first alternative consists
in the choice of communication protocol Modbus TCP for both the PLCs connected to the IT operator panel by a unique
Ethernet connection. In this case it is necessary to develop a Modbus TCP communication task inside the PLC software.
The
disadvantage: This solution requires a considerable support in programming the PLCs.
Alternative 2
The second alternative consists
in using both protocols Modbus TCP and Industrial Ethernet on two different Ethernet connections, both connected
to the IT operator panel.
The disadvantage: The adoption of this solution leads to a considerable increase
in costs and plant wiring times.
ESA SOLUTION: IT PANELS WITH DOUBLE PROTOCOL ON A UNIQUE ETHERNET PORT
The
advantages:
Management of two different communication protocols on the same Ethernet port.
Capacity to easily carry out the “protocol converter” function and using the
Pipeline function it is not necessary to write script code.
No further support must be made on the PLC programming
Considerable reduction of costs and plant wiring times
