IIS (Industrial Indexing
Systems) has developed a New Program to provide a Replacement Option for the aging MSC Controller family.
New SERCOS Network based modules were developed
to interface to Servo Drive Amplifiers with a ±10 volt velocity command. Two modules are available,
one for Encoder feedback based Drives called the IIS ESD-ACE and one for Resolver feedback based
Drives called the IIS ESD-ACR.
See below for more information on this program.
IIS feels that this is a way of
upgrading Machines where the Customer wants to hold on to their Motors and Drives for a while, but would like to "drop-in"
a better front-end Multi-Axis Controls package.

IIS MSC Controller Family Replacement Program
By keeping the existing IIS
(Industrial Indexing Systems) Servo Motors and Drive Amplifiers on their Machines and only replacing
the IIS MSC legacy Controller, our Replacement
Program allows our Customers to minimize the expense of installing new Technology.
This IIS Replacement
Program assures that the Hardware and Software functionality of the MSC legacy Controller is maintained with products based
on proven SERCOS Network Technology.
The following list outlines the products that we offer:
• Emerald Multi-Axis Controller EMC-2005
to replace the legacy MSC-800, MSC-850, MSC-850/32, MSC-250, or MSC-250A.
• The IIS ESD-ACE
or the IIS ESD-ACR SERCOS ±10 volt loop control module to replace one axis board and two on-board
I/O points.
For example:
- Two IIS ESD-ACE modules will replace the internal axis functionality of the legcy MSC-250 Controller family.
- The IIS ESD-ACE module will replace the ACE-800 or ACE-850 Encoder based axis card functionality of the
legacy MSC-800 or MSC-850 Controllers.
- The IIS ESD-ACR module will replace
the ACC-800/ACR-850 Resolver based axis cards functionality of the legacy MSC-800 or MSC-850 Controllers.
• SERCOS based I/O modules replace the on-board I/O in the IIS MSC legacy Controllers and the I/O expander IOE-850.
• SERCOS based I/O will also perform functions to replace the HPL-850
(PLS) and ACM-850 analog signal interface that IIS offers for the MSC
legacy Controller family.
• Fiber Optic Network Option EMC-F-ADDER for the IIS Emerald replaces
either the MCF-850 auxiliary Master axis input card or duplicates the legacy MSC-250 Master input channel.
• Both the existing Resolver based Motor and Drive Amplifier Systems and Encoder based Motor and Drive
Amplifier Systems can use this replacement Program without the expense of a Motor and Drive Amplifier replacement.
In the future when the Motor or Drive Amplifier needs to be replaced, IIS
offers SERCOS based Drive Amplifiers that can dropped into the System Network .

* The software conversion from MSC code to Emerald
code is straight forward as long as you are in possession of the source code. IIS does
provide software conversion and/or development as a service.
