Automation specialist Friedrich Lütze has introduced
a NEW Electronic Load Monitoring System for 1 Amp to 10 Amps, that permits the Intelligent
Selective Protection of individual 12 Volt DC and 24 Volt DC Circuits,
each with a different tripping behaviour, as well as enabling Capacitive Loads to be started via a "Power-On effect".
The Lütze LOCC-Box Overload
Current Control Load Monitoring System also makes
it possible – in the case of an OverLoad or short-Circuit
in 12 Volt DC or 24 Volt DC Circuits – to switch off just the defective
Current Circuit without any repercussions on the
Power Supply.
In order to satisfy the very diverse demands concerning the tripping behaviour, the LOCC-Box
allows for ten different characteristics to be set via a switch, such as the well-known characteristics from the Circuit-Breaker
sector. Provision is also made specially for implementing customised characteristics in the Programmable version.
In addition, the rated Current Range is selectable from 1 Amp up to 10 Amps using
presets. This is very important when retrofitting or upgrading a Control Panel Circuit, as here the device Protection often has to be modified and adapted to suit special
requirements.
Features include: adjustable characteristic; adjustable rated Current; “Power-On”
effect to switch on Capacitive Loads; single devices can be removed, without interrupt the Power Supply Circuit;
response time independent of temperature; non-volatile storage of the last status; and single or centralised Alarm contact
output.

Lutze has expanded its line of LOCC-Box Overload Current Circuit protection devices
to include a NEW Programmable & Networkable MicroProcessor version. The LOCC-Box Series
Overload Current Circuit protectors have remote reset capabilities that operate through
the use of an electronic signal. These Overload Current Circuit protection devices are compact and combine electronic trip
characteristics and active current limitation to allow selective disconnection of loads that are connected to 12 VDC
24 VDC Power Supplies. Selective load protection prevents complete shutdown of the System by quickly disconnecting the
faulty path when an Overload or short circuit occurs
Lutze LOCC-Box MicroProcessor Overload Current Circuit protection is designed to ensure selective disconnection of 12 VDC & 24 VDC load Systems. 12
VDC & 24 VDC Power Supplies, which are widely used in industry today, will shut down the output in the event of an Overload with the result that one faulty load in the System can lead to complete disconnection of all
loads. Through selective disconnection the LOCC Box responds much faster to Overload or
short circuit conditions than the switch-mode Power Supply. This is achieved by active Current
limitation.
The
LOCC Box limits the highest possible current to 1.3 to 1.8 times the selected rated Current
of the circuit protector. Thus it is possible to switch on capacitive loads of up to 20,000 μF, but they are disconnected
only in the event of an Overload or short circuit. For optimal alignment with the characteristics
of the application the Current rating of the LOCC-Box
can be selected in fixed values from 0.5 A...12 A. Failure and status indication are provided by a multicolour Green/Red LED
and an integral short-circuit-proof status output or a relay signal contact. Remote operation is possible by means of a remote
reset signal or a remote ON/OFF control signal. The manual ON/OFF button allows separate actuation and reset of individual
load circuits. Upon detection of Overload or short circuit in the load circuit,
the MOSFET of the load output will be blocked to interrupt the Current flow. The
load circuit can be re-activated via the remote electronic reset input, control input or manually by means of the ON/OFF button.
