| LEADERSHIP
IS ... |
For
the next few newsletters we will continue to look at 10 Traits of a Great Leader. All of the 10 traits fall directly in line
with the 3 essential personal competencies for effective leadership. They are:
1.
To know yourself 2. To
develop a clear vision and be able to communicate it to others 3.
To connect with and influence others
Our
last edition focused on Trait #4 which is: "Great Leaders are curious and lifelong learners. They are always searching for
a better way. They see 'problems' as opportunities with new possibilities and they know the importance of setting the example
for accepting and initiating change. When there is a difficult change, they use their resilience to quickly bounce back, recover,
and re-focus with an optimistic attitude."
Leadership
Trait #5
"Great Leaders are focused on
the big picture. They create and communicate an inspiring vision of what their organization can achieve and look like in the
future. That vision is supported by a mission statement that reflects the purpose of the organization and both are supported
by clearly defined organizational values. Their business values provide the guidelines for them to make decisions based on
doing "the right things."
The vision, mission
and values help leaders to clarify and clearly communicate the answers to 4 key leadership questions. Those questions are:
Where are we going and why? How will we get there? What resources do we have and need? How will we measure success?
The answers to those questions keep leaders and their teams
focused on doing what is truly most important right now, in order to keep their organization moving towards their vision.

| "DREAM TEAM" CULTURE BUILDING |
|
Our last newsletter looked at the fourth step for developing
your "Dream Team." That step was: "Create
your Culture Plan of Action."
This
edition we are looking at Step #5... Present your Culture Plan of Action to all employees.
This is your opportunity to gather any additional ideas
from employees and to create the buy-in that will be necessary for your plan to be successful. Immediately upon adoption of
the plan, it is important to engage all stakeholders in the exercise of creating 'Team Agreements'. These set the stage for
the attitudes, actions, and behaviors that will shape the culture of your organization. They also communicate the standards
that all employees, at every level, will be held accountable for.
If you have any questions about how to develop a 'Dream Team' for your organization, just give
me a call. In our next newsletter, we will look at the sixth step that is critical for creating your Dream Team.

| ON THE MOVE
|
|
Since the last newsletter, I had the opportunity to do
two organizational retreats that focused on better communications and preparing for the new fiscal year. In addition, we took
the time to look back at, and celebrate their accomplishments this past year. I am also in the process of helping two organizations
look at their performance review process with a goal of creating a much more positive experience than what they have been
experiencing with their existing processes.
In addition, I did a presentation on The Language of Accountability for
the Suncoast Workforce Board and their guests.
I am also pleased to announce that I'm bringing back a program that
I used to do. It is called "The Next Level Client Appreciation Program."
The Next Level Achievement Client Appreciation
Program is a win-win program that I offer to our strategic alliances who serve the same business clientele that we serve.
It provides benefits to everyone involved by giving the sponsoring company the opportunity to show their best clients that
they care about their business success, as well as their existing business relationship. A description of the benefits, format,
and details can be found at my website ( www.NextLevelAchievement.com ) on the Client Appreciation page. Did I mention that it is a free service of mine?
If you are part of a group who
is looking for a speaker or workshop presenter, please have them take a look at the Keynote Speaking page on my website at
www.NextLevelAchievement.com.
