Venturing Crew 800 joined the Yucaipa Valley Amateur Radio Club by staffing the Get On The Air station [KG6WZN] at the
YVARC Field Day site on June 23 at the Stater Brother's parking lot across the street from Yucaipa Fire Station #1.
The primary purpose of Field Day is to allow amateur radio operators to experience operating in expedient, field conditions,
similar to what they would encounter after a disaster or other emergency. They use no permanent antenna structures
or commercial power. Additional points are available for using non-standard power like solar cells. Non
standard operational modes like PSK31, RTTY and SSTV were eligible for bonus points.
Exercises like Field Day, are one of the reasons Amateur Radio Operators are ready to serve their communities during
emergencies at a moments notice.

CQ Field Day, CQ Field Day, this is KG6WZN.
Chase operates the GOTA station on 10 meters calling CQ. Making contacts on 10 meters proved to be a challenge
this year as band conditions favored lower bands.
Field day provided members of Venturing Crew 800 the opportunity to work High Frequency stations in a field or emergency
environment without permanent power or antenna structures.
