Glenn KJ6QB/SK providing instruction to crew hams in PSK-31

Crew 800's Charter Organization Rep; Glenn Montenero, KJ6QB/SK... Glenn passed away suddenly on Oct 4, 2008. He was our Charter Organization Representative, mentor, ardent supporter and most of all, a good friend to all of the crew members and advisors. He will be greatly missed.

Our hearts go out to Glenn's wife Tammy, and his daughters Amanda, Meghan and Lyndsey.

Glenn was instrumental in the founding of Crew 800 and was a supporter of the crew in many of our activities. He was a mentor and instructor for many of our crew members who were seeking their amateur radio.

This past Summer, Crew 800 members were found at:

ArrowCorps 5 - Order of the Arrow service projects (2 members, 2 sites.)

Camp Staff - 5 members on staff at Camp Emerson

CPR - First Aid Training - Various locations

ARRL - Field Day: Supporting YVARC's club station

What next?

For her Ranger award, Carla led a backpacking trip of new hikers to San Jacinto Wilderness. She taught basic outdoor / camping skills using Leave No Trace principles. All returned safely and 4 new hikers have learned to enjoy the peace and solitude of the great outdoors. No WiFi, Cell Phones, Wii's ..... Great job Carla!

Dominic Grisafe awarded Eagle Scout

Dominic Grisafe of Troop 8 / Crew 800 has successfully completed all the requirements for Eagle Scout. He received his honor at a recent court of honor.

He joins David Leja, Robert Morgan and Jon Anderson in Crew 800's Eagle's nest.

We should have a couple more Eagle Scouts in the crew by the end of the year.

Crew members earn FCC Amateur Radio Licenses!
