WHY THANKSGIVING SHOULDN'T BE A NATIONAL HOLIDAYThanksgiving is a true American holiday. Begun by the Pilgrims in the
early settling of our land, it has grown over the years from a day of thanking God for all our abundance into a day of turkeys,
football and the start of the Christmas holiday shopping season. Not what the Pilgrims had in mind, I'm sure.
For anyone following a spiritual path, however, the question really should
be: Why do we need one day out of the year to give thanks? Shouldn't we be thanking God (the universe, our divine
source) each and every day? Perhaps, each and every minute? We no more need an annual designated day a year to give
thanks than we need one to honor breathing. Take-a-Breath Day would be rather silly . . .but it is no more silly than Thanksgiving
Day. We need to breathe daily; we need to give thanks daily.
With most spiritual paths and exercises, we are reminded over and over
that gratitude is a necessary ingredient to make progress. Some call it "an attitude of gratitude." It
the simple concept that we are thankful, at all times, for all things. Even when things may not be going our way, we
focus instead on the things that are--and we give sincere thanks. In these difficult economic times, it is particularly important
that we focus on what we do have, not on what we have lost. And we should give thanks.
Gratitude is the simple concept that God (the universe, our divine
source) will respond favorably to our sincere appreciation. That giving thanks for abundance, leads to more abundance.
Even more importantly, that giving thanks for what we have, even if it is meagre, will also lead to more abundance.
Daily gratitude is also an important part of discovering and utilizing
your Personal Connector Word to God. You need to maintain a feeling of gratitude in order to let God
in--in order to recognize the divine communication. And after you discover your PCW, each time you see it, a feeling of natural
thankfulness should come over you.
It's important never to take your PCW for granted. After 11 years
of seeing my PCW, Georgia, I still get an overwhelming feeling of appreciation and joy when God sends me one.
I'm still humbled and thankful to know that my Creator loves me enough to connect with me directly. I don't need to have
one day a year in November to give thanks for all my blessings, because my Georgia reminds me of my thankfulness
each and every time I see it.

HOW THE SECRET AND PCW'S ARE LIKE GOOD OATMEALI've noticed on many spiritual sites that some people seem to becoming
disillusioned with The Secret. The Secret, of course, is simply the concept that you can create your own
reality; if you truly think and feel impassioned about something, believing it has already happened, it will happen. You
just have to keep that positive thinking and positive feeling going and eventually it will become reality.
The problem, of course, is the word "eventually." Ahhh, there's the rub.
It takes TIME. When people discover that it takes TIME, they somehow get disillusioned and drop The Secret, saying
it doesn't work.....or move onto some other spiritual exercise that they think might work quicker. Faster. More instantaneous.
We live in an instant society. Instant emails. Instant text-messaging.
Instant directions from GPS's. Unfortunately, true spiritual growth isn't instant. Unlike oatmeal, there is no quick version
where you just add hot water and stir. You've got to take your time and cook up the old-fashioned stuff, adding
real ingredients along the way to give it taste and texture.
That's the real secret about The Secret--or anything that helps
us advance on our spiritual path--it DOES take TIME. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work. It just means you haven't committed
yourself to it, you haven't stuck with it, you haven't had confidence in it enough to work. Yes, The Secret does
work...it just takes time.
And so does discovering your Personal Connector Word to God; although,
I personally think it takes a whole lot less time. You don't read this website and view the two videos and wake up the
next morning with PCW's flying at you. You need to slow yourself down--your hectic pace of life, first. You need to move
about your day where you are cognizant of the people and conversations and things around you. That probably means spending
less time glued to your cell phone and blackberry.....less time scurrying to and fro....and more time in quiet contemplation
with yourself and your surroundings. After all, you can't discover your PCW if you don't have the wherewithall to even
NOTICE it.
Discovering your PCW is not an easy thing for multi-taskers, because
first of all it is not a task. It takes no effort on your part. You don't have to think about it, you don't have to do
affirmations, you don't have to look for it. It's not an exercise. It is not a "neat thing to try to do." It is not a
game. It is a serious way that God can and will communicate with you, if you just keep an open mind and an open eye and let
Him/Her in. Ahhh, there's the rub. You have to let God in. And, just like The Secret, it will happen. Eventually.
With The Secret, you are encouraged to submit your "wish list"
to the Universe (or God) to fill. With the Personal Connector Word to God, however, your only wish is
to connect with the Universe (or God). So perhaps that is why it takes less time. And perhaps that's why The Secret
isn't working for some folks. They haven't yet established that communicative link with our divine source. The PCW will
give you that communicative link. And once you have linked to the divine, stuff just starts flowing.

CHANGE WE NEEDTuesday was a historic day. Tuesday, Barack Obama, an African-American,
was elected president. Many thought it would never happen. That it did, is testament to the fact that people--especially
young people--are not only ready for change, but they are bold and courageous enough to demand change. They are tired of the
old, failed politics. They want a new way--a 21st century way--of governing. They want a new world--one that is compassionate,
fair, humanitarian, and progressive.
It gives me hope that the younger generation will be just as bold and
courageous in demanding change in another area--an area that is older and more rigid than even that of racial inequality.
That is the area of religion, the way we communicate with God.
We talk about the more than 200 years of oppression of minorities in
this country, and how this election may have finally ended it. And we rejoice; we rightfully rejoice. But, we have
had 2,000 years of oppression of the way we relate to and communicate with our Creator.
All of us have felt this oppression, not just minorities.
Traditional churches and ancient ideas from centuries ago rule our thoughts
and our actions when it comes to the most important aspect of our lives: communicating with our divine source.
People who lived on this earth centuries ago--people no smarter or better than us--set the parameters on God to suit themselves
and their times. . . yet we, in a different time and place, are still living by those parameters.
Now is the time to discard not only the failed politics of the
past, but the failed religious thinking of the past. The youth of America, and of the world, can break the mold of old
ideas and myths that restrict our communication with God. Direct communication with God is possible. It's happening--here
and now--we need only notice it.
I am counting on the same boldness from youth to explore this new way
of seeing God and ourselves--this new way of communicating with God. The Personal Connector Word to God is
just the beginning of direct communication with God. A way of communicating with God without a "middle man." A
way without dogma, rituals, sins, and "theology."
Why wouldn't God communicate with his creations DIRECTLY? Why would
God have communicated with people 2,000 years ago, then go silent on us? Does He love us less? Why would God make
communicating with Him and understanding Him so complex and complicated that it takes ancient texts and religious scholars
to figure it all out?
These are questions that any thinking person will ask himself or herself.
These are the questions that will open a mind to the possibilities of new ways of connecting with our divine source.
These are the questions that can lead to the same kind of change in our relationship with God that we just saw happen in U.S.
politics. It, too, is change we need!
