19 training event!
Anti-Racism DeKalb is an ad hoc group of residents from the DeKalb community
and surrounding area. We have come together to create opportunities for members of our community to learn more about institutional
racism, and to support each other in anti-racism work. This group formed following the Summit on Race, held on May 2, 2009
at Kishwaukee Community College (see http://www.cedu.niu.edu/onedekalb/).
An anti-racism training event will be held on Saturday, September
19, 2009, 8:30-11:30am. This three-hour session provides an introduction to the Crossroads Anti-Racism training model.
Participants in the morning session are also invited to attend a lunch
(11:30am-12:30pm), followed by a discussion and planning afternoon session (12:30-3:30pm).
You can access more information through these links: the Crossroads website, a description of the September 19 training, a registration form for co-sponsoring organizations, and a registration form for individuals not affiliated with a co-sponsoring organiztaion. Individuals are encouraged to register through a co-sponsoring organization, if possible. The registration deadline is September
7.
Please note that there is no cost of attending these training events. The cost of
lunch is covered by the co-sponsoring organizations. Registration and lunch reservations are treated as a commitment
to attend and participate. Confirmation will be sent by email.
CPDUs are available for school teachers that attend the morning session (3 hours)
or the full day (6 hours). The cost is $6 per person to cover administrative costs (same price for 3 hours or for 6 hours).
We anticipate having CEUs for counselors, social workers, and domestic
violence workers, also at cost.
