I began my career as an Army combat correspondent;
my duties emphasized photojournalism. An unexpected battlefield commission propelled me from the ranks and
led to an eight-year detour through duty stations in Europe and South Korea.
After resigning my commission, I spent a few years
in corporate communications, then chose a freelance path that has led me through hundreds of magazine articles and picture
stories, more than a dozen books and then into screenwriting.
I think of myself as a writer -- but I never ceased creating
images.
