I took this 1973 Karmann Ghia convertible to it's first drag race at Los Angeles County Raceway in 1984. It is
not street legal anymore. I used a 1679cc type 1 engine for 15 years and the best ET was 12.85 at 102 mph. I now
use a 2110cc (94mm bore x 76mm stroke) type 1 on pump gas. Best ET so far is 12.546 at 103.87 mph.
Over the years I have been fortunate to win races. Purses as large as $1100 to runnerup money of $50 ( I have never
been back to that promotors race). I won my biggest race October, 2002 at Pomona Raceway. What a thrill to win
a "Wally".
