My Homebuilt Cargo Trailer

This is the original built in winter '02 - '03

I used a Delta poly truck box and an old sailboat trailer, narrowed.  I was not happy with the lack of rigidity of the sealing lip around the box, so I added a hardwood frame inside to hold it up and make the lid seal tight.  I cut in the stop/tail lights and used some motorcycle turn signal stems that I picked up from the motorcycle salvage yard for $25.

On a trip to Colorado, one of my leaf springs broke and now I have torsion axles.  I have not installed them yet (too many projects).

This is the leaf spring setup of the original sailboat trailer.  It was very bouncy and eventually one of the leaf springs broke.  Since that left one end of the axle unsupported, things got quite exciting for a little while.
