Tierra Alta is the Patterson family farm in beautiful Damascus, Oregon.  We live on 40 acres with multiple views of Mt Hood, lots of room for kids, dogs, cows, horses and chickens; and only minutes from the big city conveniences of Portland.  Our two daughters are learning the joys and pitfalls of capitalism the old fashioned way - by raising chickens and selling their eggs, breeding cows and dogs, and financing their love of horses with the proceeds.  We are teaching them that high standards and ethics are the best tools to ensure a good "product", so we set this example by being responsible breeders and caretakers of our four-legged (and two-legged) friends. It is our hope that these lessons will provide lasting impressions that will help them to be self-sufficient, responsible citizens, and know the joys of a job well done.
