The St. Joseph Church / Bread of Life Contemporary Music Ministry
has released a CD that contains the Chaplet of Divine Mercy set to music. There are also four other beautiful songs,
all with the theme of God's healing mercy.
The idea for this CD came from Jeannie Mleczko. She wanted
to record a CD of us singing the Chaplet in order to help foster a greater devotion to the Divine Mercy at our parish, which always
celebrates the Feast of Divine Mercy with a novena that begins on Good Friday and ends on the Sunday after Easter, otherwise
known as Mercy Sunday.
As it happened, Jim Dzuricky, after recording a CD with another band he plays in, decided to invest in an eight track digital recorder for his own personal use. When he heard Jeannie's idea, he volunteered to do the recording himself, figuring it could
save us a lot of money, besides allowing us to record it on our own terms as time allowed.
This turned into a Lenten "project" for our music ministry, especially
after we realized that we would never finish it by Good Friday without getting together at least one extra night each week
in addition to our regular practice. Our hard work and dedication paid off, and we had the completed CD ready for
distribution as early as Palm Sunday of 2006.
Because we were able to produce them so inexpensively, we decided to just absorb
the costs of the CD blanks, covers, paper, licensing, etc., and offer them at our parish for a donation that would go
towards the stained glass window restoration project. With over 300 requested in the first few months, the total is in the neighborhood of sixteen hundred
dollars, and that's not counting the many donations given via the Sunday collection, or those sent through this
website!
In October and November of 2006, through the generosity of an anonymous benefactor,
we produced another 400 CD's, just in time for the Christmas gift-giving season. We can't help but praise
God for all He's accomplishing through our music ministry! Read more in " About the Music."
