why I got banned a 2nd time

This page will be a place for me to air out some of the moderation issues that may come up on some of the boards. I will discuss some of my experiences and things I see. I'm not sure yet if I will make it open to others.

My suspension on AB's Board

I think this is what started it.

I responded to him that I did not out anyone. Then was sent this inbox.

You are owed an appology on this. I was lead to believe you were giving away an identity. It appeared that way. But on further examination I see it wasn't. I'm sorry. However Bustlover does not want to respond to your questions and really doesn't like you. So please don't bait him anymore in the future. The other would have been the second time on the handle issue. You have my appoligies for the misunderstanding. But I want you to know, I'm not going to sit back and have anyone just fuck around with me or the sit just for fun. OK.

You know Pat. I'm just not convinced this is going to work. You seem to be completely incapable of just participating in a civilized and reasonable manner. It's no secret you don't like me, and frankly I don't like you much either. But maybe you should really consider whether or not it's worth it to be in a forum that you really hate being at, run by a person you can't stand. Because to me it seems to be a recipe for continued conflict. And I just don't have the time or heart for it anymore.

So I would like you to make a decision Pat. It's a simple one. Either you start participating like everyone else, or I'd suggest you follow WR and WW69. It's obviously your choice, but if you decide to stay, I expect your terse little comments about everyone, including me to stop. I expect no more baiting of posters you don't like. I expect a stopping of trying to ferret out the personal identities of other posters and then trying to quietly expose them. I expect you to treat people with respect. It's something vitrually everyone else is doing. And you are not going to be the exception.

When I noticed someone else on the board doing exactly what AB was accusing me of doing. I Inboxed Flyfisher and told him he might want to check it out. I also mentioned to him that AB, said I could be suspended for this.

Right after that Flyfisher outed Vernon. Then they made a rule change. That all posters must use their known handles on the board.

The next day I made 2 post. 1 that IB, from the SIN board, requested I make for him. The other was a post with a linc in it to a discussion about handles on NVB. I made No derogatory comments. That night I had the following inbox exchange with AB.

You know Pat, I was just going through your posts tonight. I wound up deleting a lot of them because the were clearly violating one rule or another. And it appears that in the vast majority of posts you are simply critical, whining, out right lying, or just trying to instigate problems. I've asked you to stop, but there were still posts as of last night.

You really have left me little choice here. I'm just not going to tolerate this type of behavior when virtually everyone else is behaving. And I'm certain you're gonna bad mouth me more at NVB, and frankly I don't care. But most people see right through your little stunts and realize you're just a trouble maker. You try to get others to do your dirty work but in the long run you apparently don't believe you have to conduct yourself in accordance with any decorum what so ever. So, we're going to try one more time to give you a chance to just enjoy the forum and get along. But not right now. I believe you need a cooling off period. So, for the next week I am suspending your posting privlidges here. This will stay in effect until next Monday.

I will be checkin IP's on new posters, and if I find that you are bypassing this suspension by using a seoncd ISP or another persons account the suspension will become permanent.

Fly, the modators, myself and many, MANY other posters here are sick and tired of your antics and jibs. You should take some time an contemplate this, especially before you decide to announce it on NVB. You might want to choose your words carefull. You've pretty much used up any slack that was going to be cut to you here.

I will turn your account back on next Monday.

OK! but I made 2 post today. Niether one against the rules. One was a post for Ib and the other one was a linc that directly went to a thread that was discussing the topic of the thread..
Compared to the garbage Bustlover and Vernon have been posting my stuff is mild.

The one to IB's site was not deleted. However you aren't going to feign innocents with regards to the rest. The were calculated to be in volation with one rule or another. From rule 4 to off topic posting. I'm not concerned with your opinon of comparisons to other posters. This is about a long standing pattern with you that you seem to desire to continue here. It will not continue here. If you haven't received it yet, the inbox part I can't do. So it will be off for a week also. I'm turning the account off at 11:30pm. When I turn it back on I suggest that you either to decide to adopte and attitude of focusing on the general topics of dicussion here or choose to go somewhere else. I hope you understand that we are serious at this point, and that we aren't going to put up with the kind of crap you dish out constantly.

Call it what you want. I did not brake a single rule today. Lets be honest here. You have wanted me off since day one. Dont make phoney excuses. The others will learn about your ways..It will be interesting to watch.

That's basically why I was suspended. Thier was one other message from Flyfisher that I did not save. It basically said to not punch ABs buttons, because he gets to caught up in the whole thing. They are hoping AB will stick to the Tech stuff, and let them do the moderating.

I don't mind the suspention. What I don't like is the way it was gone about. My post weren't any worse than several others on there. The day I got suspended their was absulutly nothing wrong with my post. All 2 of them.

Follow Up

I am now banned. This was no surprise. AB would have found a way to ban me no matter what. I was not banned for any activities on NBT. I was banned for posting about my suspention at NVBrothels You can read about it HERE

This is an Email I recieved awhile back. It is the reason I said that AB will use threats to controller posters. How fair is a message board that has a Webmaster that would threaten a poster with outing of illegal activities just for posting a response on a message board that disagrees with him.

I don't know if I will post over at ABs board again or not. Most likely I will be banned if he reads this. It is almost scary to think that this guy is allowed to even have a message board. Hopefully the other moderators will keep him under control. For the sake of that board I hope Flyfisher does what he suggested to me and sticks him with the tech stuff and let's the other guys do the moderating.

AB Emails lies to my ISP Provider Mar 5 2004

I am the webmaster of a messageboard on the internet. We have had a serious problem with one of your subscribers. I've forwarded another complaint about his use of webspace to harrass others, but now he seems to be using his DSL account to do that same. He has been banned from our
messageboard and told so. He continues to attempt to create new handles and flagrantly defies the fact that he's not welcome and is not authorized to access the site any further. I have repeatedly warned him not to come back but he continues to use his account to harrass me and the people of our community. I do not know his last name, but his first is Pat, and I believe he's a retired Verison employee. He consistantly comes in on the following IP.4.5.72.188

The problem is that by banning his IP in software is that it seems to cause problems for other verison customers. I don't want to have to do that, but I do want this persons continued harrassment to stop.

More AB bullshit Mar 5 2004

I am unaware of anyone being deleted for giving opinions or news on LPIN. Yes, there have been deletions. They all were blantant violations of the published rules, most of which were vicious verbal attacks on others.

I have no problem with people voicing desenting opinions if that's what they truely believe. But I will not tolerate someone simply coming in here and verbally abusing others and then pretending that their argurement was the source of the problem. Even Vernon, had he simply stuck to trying to contend that allowing 18 year olds was not appropriate in LPIN, I would have tolerated it. But when he sunk to calling other people vicious names (which by the way wasn't true) that's where we draw the line.

In order to have an intelligent and thought provoking conversation, a certain amount of courtesy must exist even when we disagree. That's what we're striving to do here. Yes another person was deleted and banned for a long term habit of causing trouble, not because he was voicing decent but just because he wants to disrupte everyone elses experiences. And even he was given several chances to reform. Jealous little people like that are not going to terrorize our community.

So if your concern is that you want to voice an opinion that you truely believe, and you do it in a concise and respectful way, you will have no problem here. If you're going profanely call others names and try to disrupte everyone from having a civilized discussion, then yes, we're going to not only get on the delete key but dish out bannings and report continued abuses to the appropriate authorities. Some people don't realize that there can be serious implications to internet harrassment and hacking. But they are going to get an education on it at some point.
