Chances are you clicked on this page because you feel led to fast and pray.  There are various times and seasons in the Bible for perscribed fasts and sometimes God calls us to fast for a certain reason which may be personal or national.  Fasting is not about refraining from food.  It is about focusing on God in a deliberate, concentrated way.  It is about building your relationship with Him, not denying yourself for pennence sake.

Pray About the Type of Fast He Wants You to Go On

Take time to pray about the type of fast the Lord wants you to go on.  There are many different ways to set yourself apart to seek Him.  Perhaps you will be fasting food altogether or go on a Daniel fast of just fruits and vegetables.  Maybe you will be shutting off your TV or fasting from the internet.  However you feel led, know that the Lord will give you the grace needed to deny your flesh and awaken your spirit.  If you have any medical issues, please contact your doctor before starting a food fast.

What is a Daniel Fast

The Daniel fast is partial fast based on Daniel 10:2-3.

"In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.  I ate not pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled."

Many believe that this means eating just fruit and vegetables.  The word is not clear about what he did and did not eat.  I generally keep the thought of if it's grown from a seed I can eat it.  I do occasionally add fish or eggs when the Lord leads.

Here is a list of food guidelines.  It is not meant to put you in bondage.  Seek the Lord about what you can and cannot have.
