Here are some questions and comments from viewers and my replies

COMMENT:   Your website is absolutely wonderful. I look forward to visiting it often. . .what an inspiration!. . .especially for me who is stuck (but pleasantly so!) in the jungles of Costa Rica with my sewing machines and a room full of fabric and goodies to play with. You have renewed my spirit.   Muchisima gracias.

REPLY:  I was so excited to receive your email! Thank you so kindly for writing to me. I am blown away that you being so far away have seen my show on QNN and viewed my website. Your brought a huge smile to my face and know I will work harder to bring you more inspiration from your computer to your wonderful surroundings!

QUESTION:  Hey Christopher, I saw you on QNN. I love your pillows and cannot wait to make them all! I am having to be patient waiting for your book to come out, but I know it will be worth waiting for. I've never heard of you before. My friend told me about QNN and when I saw you, I knew it was time for my new sewing machine! Any suggestions? My singer is so limited! I look forward to seeing you more. BTW, I loved your website! It is fun and creative! I was dancing at my computer with the music! Took me an hour to view your whole website. It is like a visual radio! Thanks!  Jill from NC.

REPLY:  Thanks for writing and thanks for the fun email you sent!  Glad I got your toes tapping and your creativity encouraged!

I use several different brand machines because there are features on each I cannot live without. Truth is, I am a machine collector too. Since I teach so many students with different brands, I want to be up to date in technical knowledge of each brand!
If I could design a machine with my name on it, I would combine all my cannot live without features into one awesome machine!

I would suggest you go into a sewing machine dealer of every brand machine and TEST drive like buying a car. Take a notebook with you and ask a lot of questions. Sit down and sew on it. Ask where the machine is made, see if the label is true. See what kind of accessory feet are available. Ask about the warranty and if your dealer has in house repair.

To make my pillows, it is important that the machine loves metallic threads, have your dealer load up some SULKY metallic thread and sew it out with the built in decorative stitches and free motion work.

Find out the trade in value in a year. Treat it no different than buying a car or building a house. With so many machines on the market today, be sure to also ask if free lessons come with the purchase as well. Does the machine come with an instructional DVD?

Be sure it feels good for you when you sew and has all the features you ever dreamed of having!  Like a scissor cutter, a built in needle threader, a knee lifter, many decorative built in stitches ( don't be stingy on the decorative stitches!), an extension table, etc.
If this is the big buy or next to the big buy, you want to get what you truly want in features and accessories available!

There are a lot of excellent machines out there, be sure to take your time. A good machine will last you a lifetime! Hope this helps!

QUESTION: SUPERB!! FAB!! Saw you on QNN. Inspiration, inspiration!!
No wonder you don't get much sleep! Can you get the book out any faster my man??? Greetings from Italy!

ANSWER:  Thank you for your whirlwind email! Working on it sunshine! Fasten your seatbelt, it's gonna be a heck of a ride!!!! Better take your machine in for a tune up. After the book comes out your gonna put a lot of mileage on it!

QUESTION:  I enjoyed you on QNN and have a question. Where would I purchase the machine needle you used for fabric punching? Hope to see you much more on QNN! Fall Branch, TN.

ANSWER:  Thanks for watching the show! Your answer is at your sewing machine dealer!  Please read on!

QUESTION: Mr. Christopher, I have got to have your fabric in my hands. I saw you on QNN and directed my fingers on my keyboard as quickly as I could to your website. What a refreshing breath of air you are in the sewing world. Your show was INSPIRING!  PLEASEEEEE, when is your fabric coming out! Hello from Spain.

ANSWER:  Oh my, I can feel your excitement right through my computer monitor! Wow!  All the way from Spain. You are the second viewer from Spain, now I will need to visit your beautiful country soon!
My fabric will be out as soon as I contract with a manufacturer that I know will produce my work to the highest quality. I am still searching.I have heard from several, but no contracts as of yet. Thanks, please keep checking back for updates. I am glad you liked the show and my website!

QUESTION: Love your pillows; how do i find a couching foot?

ANSWER:  Good question! I freely use the word couching and I want to be sure everyone understands the terminology. Couching is a technique of sewing on any type of yarn, pearls, decorative threads, etc. It is like detailing your car!
To couch pearls on, you will need a pearl foot. To couch yarn, you can use a pearl foot and / or a ribbon sequins foot. These feet are available at your local sewing machine dealer for your brand of machine.
Watch me on Quilt Central for the 2006 season and you will see me demonstrate the pearl foot to couch on crafters cording on a pillow. Hope this helps!

I want to be able to scoop everyone up that has taught me and have one big sewing party!  Your email really made me feel my job is being done right!

QUESTION:  I watched (in awe) your show on QNN... WOW! Great work! You showed a punching foot/plate in use, but where does one get such an attachment for a machine? My search on the internet was not fruitful... Please advise if you're able. Thanks Again! You inspired me!

ANSWER:  Hey guy, thanks for writing! 3 sewing machine companies at this time make this foot and you will need to obtain it from a dealer for their brand of machine. Thanks for watching the show and happy you enjoyed it!

QUESTION:   I was just web serfing and caught the end of your pillow construction on QNN. I would like to know what needle you used for the sewing machine and the name of the foot. You are awesome and I hope some day to take a class with you. Thank you. Keep creating.

ANSWER:   Thanks for writing. Check the listing guide on QNN so you can catch the whole program!  By accident, this brief topic on the show was edited. ( Due to the fact I was chewing gum!!!...LOL!!) The needle to use when stippling with metallic threads is a metallic needle. A metallic needle has a longer eye opening and size designed to prevent thread fraying. Also, check with your machine dealer about using a silicone thread lubricant for the thread to help it run smooth.

The actual needle attachment I used is called a punching/felting foot. There are three sewing machine companies at this point who make them. You can inquire at your local sewing machine dealer.

QUESTION: Hi Christopher,
recently I had a chance to watch QNN here in Switzeland and saw part 1 of your pillow session. I love what I saw and heard. Not only the technique you showed (I got the same berninas and today I was able to buy that foot. It was not avaiable earlier here in Switzerland. Funny, isn't it?) but also the compliments you made to Jody by using her name so often. No one else did this in the shows before. I just happened to have an ear for such things. And this also told me that you must have at least one cat, whom you possessed by :). Thanks for showing your ideas and the "go beyond - no rules". I will start right away. Take care and have uncountable ideas while playing with thread and needle.Greetings from Switzerland
