sharing wheels community bike shop

"In 1999, Ron Toppi was working at a local bike shop. Not being able to serve those who could not afford the prices for maintenance, Ron had an idea. He salvaged old parts and bikes so that he could provide free maintenance and donate the used bikes to the homeless men at the Everett Gospel Mission. Now Ron's vision for helping people help themselves has become a 501(c)3 non-profit called SHARING WHEELS"

Low Cost Bike Sales
A wide variety of refurbished bikes are available at prices ranging from $20-$150 at our weekend sales in the parking lot. See up-coming events for next time and date! Or call 425/252-6952. Every August we clean out the shop and sell tons of parts, bikes and accessories "as is." Look for our booth every February at the Seattle Bike Swap.

ABOUT THE STAFF

Sharing Wheels is operated by an all member/volunteer staff. The Board of Directors is made up of cyclists and community- minded members.
If you'd like to join the Co-op or volunteer for Sharing Wheels, consider attending a Bike Maintenance Class, or offer your talents in other areas such as publicity, fund raising and outreach.

CHARITABLE BIKE PROGRAMS

Kids Bike Swap
Our annual spring swap meet matches old bikes with new owners. Kids get credit for the bike they've outgrown and trade it in for a "new" bike that's been refurbished by Sharing Wheels volunteers.

Earn-A-Bike
Sharing Wheels volunteers teach Earn-A-Bike classes at Cocoon House, a transitional housing complex for homeless and troubled teens. We also host teen "bike camps" during school breaks to give kids a chance to help and learn. All graduates fix and earn their own recycled bicycles.

Work4Wheels
Low income adults volunteer time at the shop to earn a bike, accessories or repair services.

Christmas House
Sharing Wheels recondition 100 kids bicycles each fall for Christmas House. Christmas House gives thousands of low income families a chance to celebrate the holidays.
