Experiences we have been through

1) Always go by instincts!
you know your child the best.

2) If child has a trach and it plugs, do an emergancy trach change, don't try to let them clear it, as once I was told to do so!

3) Get a second opinion!
if you don't feel that the dr. knows to much about this condition.

4)Before going home from thew hospital, make sure you feel like you have enough training.

5) If your child has a trach and is on humidity, when taking the child out w/ a t-vent put saline on ends to keep it moist.

6) If your child has an enlarged tongue and has blisters on it try to get them to eat yogurt, if they can eat by mouth.

7) Sign child up on disability medicaid.

8) Make sure when you are going home to have nursing and the supply company come that same day.

9) Make sure when going home you have your house set up for all the equipment you will be bringing home.

10) If child has a trach and is on a t-vent and has a lot of thin secreations try taking the t-vent off for awhile.
