The West Los Angeles Chapter of CRFG meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We have either
a meeting with a speaker or a field trip, generally alternating with a speaker on the odd numbered months and field trips
on the even numbered months. Our monthly newsletter gives complete information on the upcoming event.
Meetings include
speakers, fruit tasting (and other goodies), and generally a large raffle of unusual fruit trees and plants. It is a good
chance to talk with and get to know others who grow rare fruit in your local area. If you have a fruit problem, someone at
the meeting could probably solve it!
Field trips are to members' gardens, nurseries, or other points of interest.
For longer distance field trips we try to provide a bus.
All meetings and activities of the West Los Angeles CRFG
are open to the public. You do not need to be a member to attend. However, membership is only $8 a year and puts you on our
mailing list. Membership also helps pay for our meeting sites, supplies, and mailings.
The picture at the right is
the Fredrick Passionfruit. It is large, sweet and flavorful. The fruit grows on an extensive heavy vine and
needs considerable support. It can be grown from cuttings. Eat it out of hand, put it as a topping on vanilla
ice cream or passionfruit sorbet, use it to make the sorbet, or use it in multiple other ways.
