For more information, call 503-640-2923 Or 503-647-0081
Square Dance Lessons – Sundays from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
The first square dance lesson is free. The first three lessons (through January 17th) are "open" to new
dances, meaning you can begin lessons at any time in the first three weeks. After that, the lessons will be closed to "new"
students, as we begin to teach additional movements. Our Square Dance "Caller" or instructor is K.C. Curtis.
Round Dance Lessons – Sundays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
In Round dance lessons you will learn how to do two step and waltz. With Round Dancing you do not have to memorize a whole
dance, but rather you learn certain steps. Then the "Cuer" tells you what step to do next during the dance. Our Round Dance
"Cuer" or instructor is Bev Flint.
Additional Information
- Lesson fees are $5 per class, discounted for students taking both round and square dance classes at the same time, or
for families of 3 or more.
- We welcome children to lessons if they are 9 years old or older, and are accompanied by an adult.
- Square dance and Round dance lessons occur once a week from January till sometime in April. You can pay for each lesson
as you take it, meaning if you decide Square or Round dancing isn’t your thing, you aren’t loosing money for lessons
you don’t complete.
- Square dancing and Round dancing go together. At club dances you will usually dance two square dances (tips), then two
round dances throughout the evening.
- Toe Draggers Square Dance club is a family club, which means that singles, couples and children are all welcome. If you
do not have a partner, don’t let that stop you from coming. During lessons, club members will make sure that you have
a partner to dance with. Club members dance with students during lessons to make it easier and faster for students to learn.
- There is no expectation that students wear square dance clothes to lessons, but you can if you want to. Square dance clothes
can be anything from the frilly, ruffled apparel, to western type clothes. And many folks just wear regular clothes to lessons
and dances.
- We dance to a variety of music, such as Long Black Train, Boogie Fever, Fishing in the Dark, God Bless the USA, etc.
- Square dancing and round dancing are fun, great exercise, and can be a great family activity.
- Square Dance clubs are very social, and usually have other events outside of the regular dances, such as progressive dinners,
campouts and mystery trips.
