![]() “Yet those who wait for the Lord
will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles,
they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary” (Isaiah 40:31 NASB). Jeff sits by his wife’s hospital bed and wonders when and if his wife will ever walk again. Their two girls play at his feet, and he cries and begs for healing that can only come from God. “How long, Lord? How long must we wait?” Ann prays on her knees for her grown children who continue to run from God. Her tears fall as she again begs the Lord for help. “Please Father, help them find you. Please Lord, don’t let them wait another day.” Tom counts the days for his father to come home from the war. "How long must he stay? Please God, keep my daddy safe." Prayers are repeated for days, months, and years, and no answer seems in sight. I wrote and rewrote this blog, not wanting to be personal. But a relationship with God is personal. The stories above are true. The names have been changed. We all have our stories, our moments when all we can do is cry out to God. No one can help, only God. Right now my family waits for healing, guidance, and many issues too personal to mention. But I know God is faithful. I know He hears. I’ve been at the bedside of friends as they died. I’ve been touched by evil and God gave me courage to endure and heal. I feel His strength each day to walk through illness. He is faithful. His timing may not be mine, but He is never late and His ways are always best. Be assured God is always listening and working. His ears are attuned to the cries of His children. His word promises… Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. The Lord is far from the wicked but He hears the prayer of the righteous. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him. But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. We wait in hope for the Lord He is our help and our shield. But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice. I wait for you, O Lord You will answer, O Lord my God. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope. Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for You; Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
