HISTORY

THE SEVEN LESSONS OF LIFE came to be right after the 2001 production of ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY. Following the production, I began to concentrate on what I had learned about putting on a show and how I could grow as a writer. Originally thinking of turning of turning PHONE CALL into a full length musical or developing PHONE CALL into a screenplay.

After the tragedies the occurred on the east coast in Sept 2001, I decided to write a whole new show devoted to comedy. To make people laugh, to take them away from their problems, if at least for a mere 90 minutes. For a topic, I thought of the London NOISES OFF. And realized (no offense to the BWAY version that I had not seen yet) that everytime that show is done in the US, I found myself laughing AT the actors struggling with the horrible accents than at the brillant creativity of the script. So SEVEN LESSONS was actually written in frenzy of 7 hours, taking the play within the play theme and bringing it to California, along with a farce look at the people struggling in the entertainment business. And toss in a few slapstick here and there, and wa-la: A fun show that not only will entertain and amuse, but maybe pick up a thing or two on this funny thing we call LIFE.

The first version of SEVEN LESSONS opened in July of 2002. The cast and audience's enthusiasm were beyond my expectations. The antics of Noreen Cavanaugh, the crazy Cassandra and the love story between Michelle and Richard were a hit. After a fine tuning of the script, the show presented now is faster and in my opinion, more hilarious.

Seven Lessons of Life is a present from me to you. We only have a short time on this earth, might as well make the most of it, laughing and appreciating the loved ones we have in our lives now. Peace. Love. God Bless.
