Manassas Dale City Drum Studio

Hello. My name is David Salisbury and I am a local percussionist and percussion teacher. I started the Manassas Dale City Drum Studio to provide opportunities for local student percussionists to perform together in groups. I also offer private and group instruction as well as clinics utilizing local guest percussionists as co-instructors. My goal is to provide performance opportunities for beginning drummers of all ages as well as more advanced ensemble performances for high school percussionists.

Over the years I have noticed that young percussion students are not always given the attention they need in band class to develop the proper skills and become proficient. Even the most dedicated middle school or high school band director finds it hard to provide the kinds of performance and learning opportunities that percussionists need. Consequently, too many percussion students do not go on to become accomplished musicians. The lack of opportunity to play in groups where percussion instruments are featured is also a factor. The need for percussion students to have more opportunities to play and perform is what motivated me to start the Manassas Dale City Drum Studio.

Students who take lessons at the Manassas Dale City Drum Studio have opportunities to perform at recitals with other students, Woodbridge Music Club student recitals, National Federation of Music Clubs Gold Cup Festival, YOPW solo and ensemble recitals, all-county and all-distriict band auditions and solo festivals. Many students also participate in Drumfest!, the student drumset playing competition sponsored by the VA/DC Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
