| Family reunion in Appingedam (1991) |
Haike Jonkhoff
Thanks to Haike, a school principal, born in 1860 Groningen and died in 1938 who had a passion
for tracing the ancestors of our family. He wrote a document in 1927, describing the ancestors up to about 1927.
Haike had to travel to all these towns and manually search the baptism records in churches and marriage
records at various city halls, since no census took place until late 19th century. Death records were virtually non-existent.
Johannus Hendricks Jonkhoff (1985),
Regrettable, I never met Johannes but was
told that he was not interested in pursuing the branch of Jan Hindrik Jonkhoff past the research he did up until 1985. The
result has been written in a booklet called “De Familie Jonkhoff…..goed beschouwed” (The family Jonkhoff…..all
things considered). His research is included in our database
Dr. Haiko Berend Jonkhoff
Fortunately, we have Dr. Haiko Berend Jonkhoff, currently living in Amsterdam (Holland), who picked
up where his grandfathers documentation, Haike Jonkhoff around 1927 in Dutch, left off. and attempted to complete
the genealogy up to the current generation of the Jonkhof(f)’s, with great perseverance and a lot of research, like his grandfather. In addition, he
organized a very successful family reunion, in Appingedam (1991) See picture above.
Martin Jonkhoff and Simone Buis
Martin Jonkhoff and Simone Buis did the English translation in 1999,
of the documentation, written by Haike Jonkhoff in Dutch in 1927.
