My name is Bobbi Korte. I was born
in Pennsylvania
and lived in 4 states east of the Mississippi before moving to Redlands when I was 15. Yes, I did graduate from Redlands High School. The year was 1971.
I went on to college, and graduated from the University
of Redlands with a major in Communicative Disorders and a minor
in Counseling Psychology. I also graduated with a teaching credential. My first professional contract placed me
in charge of a class of children who had been diagnosed as autistic. It was one of the first classes in San Bernardino County for autistic children,
so it was a wonderful challenge. I have been a teacher in both regular and special education classes since 1975.
However, I have not lived in Redlands all of that time!
I moved to Boise,
Idaho in 1976. There I taught, earned my MA in Education, married
the most wonderful man in the world, and became a mom. I also learned how to farm, muck stalls, hunt, clean birds,
collect eggs, chase the stupid cows back into the pasture, and coached volleyball. In my spare time, I kept book for
the local high school basketball team that my husband coached. I also learned to drive in snow, on ice, and through
mud! Eventually, my family moved and I found myself back in Redlands.
I have been teaching at Cope Middle School for nearly 20 years. During
this time, my children have grown up, graduated from Redlands
High School and now are off living lives of their own. Mr.
Korte and I have five grandchildren - three boys and two girls - who live in Idaho
and North Carolina. I miss them during the school
year, but use my holidays to visit. Generally, I like to spend my free time reading, gardening, and riding around in
the sports car my husband thought he was buying for himself! LOL
