The Nation Breaks Apart - In this unit, we study the causes of the Civil War, the war itself, and the repair of the Union after the war.  Photographs, recordings and virtual tours will help the events seen more "real" as we study them.

Extra Credit Opportunity - Civil War Scrapbook
In the teal box (where all handouts for the last two weeks are located), you will find the directions for researching and creating items for a Civil War Scrapbook.  You may work together with other KORTE students (from any period) to complete this project.  Follow the directions given on the handout and be creative!  An excellent project could earn up to 3 percentage points on your total grade AND a 5 point (½ of a grade) increase on the Civil War (Chapters 16 & 17) TEST!!!  NO class time will be given for this project, that is why it is EXTRA CREDIT!

Go to the following web address to see this ONLINE book about the life of a slave girl.  This is autobiographical and gives good insights into what life on the plantation was like for a slave girl.
