Frequently asked questions

1) Do you only officiate at Jewish weddings?
No, I officiate at Jewish and interfaith weddings. I believe that religion and spirituality are very personal and should be reflected in your wedding as you see fit. I work at a synagogue that is unaffiliated with any sector of Judais. This allows me the freedom to make personal choices based on my own convictions. I also have the positive experience of being in a successful interfaith marriage.
2) Do you have one service you use?
I customize each service to meet the wishes of the couple. (I do have outlines to help get you started.) You are encouraged to celebrate your diverse backgrounds by incorporating rituals, blessings, readings and traditions that reflect your heritage.
3) Can I have a musician at the service? Do you have a musician you work with? Yes, and Yes! As a cantorial soloist, I do sing during the ceremony. Many times I "perform" a capella, but I love to work with keyboardists, guitarists, ensembles, etc... Again, I feel this is your day, your vision! I can refer a few different musicians to you.
4) Do you require us to have pre-marital counseling? No, that is not something I require.
5) Do you have references? Yes. I am proud to say all the couples I have been the officiant for have been overjoyed with the service. I don't, however, feel it is appropriate for me to list this contact information on my website. If you require a reference, I will put you in touch with these people on an individual basis.
6)What are your fees? I charge $500-$600 as a standard fee. This fee covers my meeting time with you (both in person and via phone and e-mail), planning the ceremony, running a rehearsal, and performing the ceremony. I do not charge extra for travel within 35 miles. I like to meet each couple in person at least once for about 2 hours. I spend a great deal of time making each ceremony personal and appropriate to the couple and their families.
