What's Your City Doing?
Stay Informed

In May, 2007, the Hillsboro City Council voted to sign the city onto the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, committing Hillsboro to reducing its emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.  Hillsboro also became the first city in Washington County to request membership in the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), which will mean that the city will work with ICLEI staff to develop a meaningful emissions-reduction plan, and follow through on the commitment made by signing the Mayors Agreement.  Read the news release on Hillsboro's action plan.

You can help ensure Hillsboro reduces its contribution to global warming by sending a short email to Mayor Tom Hughes.  Please thank the mayor for encouraging the city council to move toward its decision, and briefly explain why a sustainable community is important to you.  Also encourage the city to take new steps to reduce greenhouse emissions wherever possible.

Email the mayor at: mayor@ci.hillsboro.or.us
Also, very importantly, please fill out your name in the form below, and click "submit," so that we will know you have sent the email.

If the local government hears from citizens who care about these issues, it is more likely to make real changes soon.
