History
The original Luminary (Kit Rafter) is a well-known hero who was a member of both the Dawn Patrol and the Freedom Phalanx. Sometime in the 1990s, Rafter retired from active adventuring in order to marry actress and supermodel
Jeanette Vesey. At the wedding, the hero Positron presented bride and groom with a very unique wedding present: “a new android modeled after Jeanette with powers similar
to Kit’s.” While Kit went on to become the spokesman for Hero Corps, the android took his superhero name and continued to protect Paragon City
“under the watchful eye of [fellow android] Bastion.”
The current Luminary represents the latest in android technology. Her systems
are more advanced than those of Bastion, who is widely regarded as the first android hero. In fact, Luminary is so advanced
that she seems to be evolving in strange and unpredictable ways. “The new Luminary has recently shown signs of developing
a strong personality” that reminds Positron of Jeanette Vesey. While Positron has studied these changes, he has yet
to determine their origin.
