Ajax is a nigh-invulnerable hero who fought valiantly during the Rikti invasion. He is the only named survivor of Omega Team, the fifty heroes assembled to attack the Rikti's power source in their home dimension.

History

 

Very little is known about the invulnerable Ajax, save that he was considered one of the world's "best and brightest" heroes. When Hero 1, the Statesman, and Dr. Science plotted a dramatic counteroffensive against the Rikti, Ajax was recruited to join a strikeforce called Omega Team, which included a number of heroes with magical powers. Omega Team's mission was to infiltrate a Rikti base, enter a gateway leading to the Rikti's home dimension, and destroy whatever energy source powered the alien technology. 

 

Along with the rest of Omega Team, Ajax entered the Rikti's main portal base under the protection of an ancient Charm of Invisibility. Omega Team was eventually discovered, but most of them were able to slip through the portal. Ajax, however, was captured by a Rikti stasis ray. About fifteen minutes after the rest of Omega Team entered the portal, "a tremendous explosion rippled out from the open portal, tearing through the Rikti base and instantly annihilating everything within a square mile." Only Ajax survived. He soon reported Omega Team's victory - and sacrifice - to the rest of the hero world.

 

It is unknown whether or not Ajax has remained active, or even alive, since the Rikti invasion. He has yet to reappear in Paragon City.

The name "Ajax" implies mythical origins. This, combined with the fact that many members if Omega Team had mystical powers or origins has led to the assumption that Ajax's powers are also magical in nature.
