Agitation Free - 2d 12" Vinyl LP Agitation Free was a German avant-garde rock band. The band was formed in
1967
with Michael "Fame" Günther (bass), Lutz "Lüül" Ulbrich (guitar), Lutz Ludwig Kramer (guitar) and
Christopher Franke (drums).
They were initially called Agitation, a name they chose at random from a dictionary.
The name later changed to Agitation
Free as a reflection of their live performance style.
After losing guitarist Axel Genrich to Guru Guru in 1970 and drummer
Christopher Franke to Tangerine Dream in
1971, the band recruited Jörg "Joshi" Schwenke (guitar), Burghard Rausch (drums),
and Michael Hoenig (keyboards).
They released their debut album, Malesch in 1972 on the Music Factory label. The album
was inspired by their
tour through Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus, sponsored by the German Goethe Institute. Later that year,
they performed
at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
A second album was released in 1973, but the band disbanded in 1974. Agitation
Free reunited in 1998 and
released River Of Return in 1999.

Michael
Hamel repetitive keyboards melodies, of Robert Eliscu's oboe, Roberto Detree's classical
acoustic guitar and the multi-percussive
colorations of Cotch Black.
On their third album, the band turns to a more tranquil, luminous style, quite different from
the solemn,
obscure, esoteric and incantatory music of the previous “And the waters opened” album.
“Dharana”
develops here an aerial and mellow world jazz fusion, softer and less inspired than their
previous album.
The longest
piece “Dharana” is the most accomplished, with its slow progression. The spiritual inspiration
is strong throughout
the album, “Dharana” is the sixth of the eight steps of Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga and
is linked to a stage
of self-trance due to inner silence.
Even if “Dharana” can’t reach the previous album’s intensity,
the cleaner sound production contributes to
a pleasant aerial feeling and with this album, Between keeps on creating a
unique musical universe, a
perfect fusion of western and eastern music. And “Dharana” remains more inspired
than Peter Michael Hamel’s
future works.

Germany's Hans Joachim
Roedelius and Dieter Moebius made Krautrock history with their group Cluster.
Their proto-ambient electronic soundscapes
avoided conventional melody and rhythm so steadfastly
that Cluster's '70s recordings sound like nothing less than the
dreams of sleeping industrial
machines. By the '80s, Roedelius and Moebius had made their way to a rhythm-based aesthetic
dangerously close to dance music. This definitive album finds the duo midway between those two
extremes and offers
a good overview of Cluster's approach.
Prior to 1976's SOWIESOSO, Moebius and Roedelius collaborated with Neu! mainman
Michael Rother
in Harmonia, fusing Cluster's moody textures with Neu!'s simple melodies and gently undulating
rhythms
for an approach akin to vintage Kraftwerk. The lessons Cluster learned from Rother's
poppier ways must have stuck, as
SOWIESOSO is solidly in the style of Harmonia's 1975 album DELUXE.
Waves of understated synth melodies flow over subtle
rhythms for an accessible but never blatantly
commercial sound. On "Umleitung," the electronics are set in relief by tribal-sounding
banging
and chanting. "In Ewigkeit" closes things on a contemplative note, its elegiac tone marked by a soft,
funereal
beat and atmospheric synthesizer washes.

GO "GO" was a supergroup conceived in 1976 by Stomu Yamashta (percussion and keyboards), which also
included Steve Winwood (vocals and keyboards), Al Di Meola (lead guitar), Klaus Schulze (synthesizers),
Michael Shrieve
(drums).
Stomu Yamashta conceived this supergroup. Go made two studio albums, "Go" (1976) and "Go Too" (1977).
The
band also recorded a concert they performed in France: this album, "Live From Paris", from the
June 12, 1976 concert,
became a cult favourite.

progressive rock scene in Berlin, which fostered bands like
Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel and
Agitation Free. His interest in avant-garde music, sound generators and prepared tapes
caught the
eye of Michael Guenther, the bassist of Agitation Free, and he joined the band in February, 1971.
In March
1975, Hoenig was hired to replace Peter Baumann in Tangerine Dream for an Australian tour
and BBC recorded London Royal
Albert Hall concert, and subsequently left Agitation Free, which broke
up shortly after. Baumann rejoined Tangerine Dream
soon after, and Hoenig went on to collaborate
with Klaus Schulze on the shortlived project, Timewind. In 1976 he had a
brief collaboration with
Manuel Göttsching of Ash Ra Tempel; a recording of one of the sessions was released in 1995 under
the title "Early Water". In 1978, he released his first solo album, the highly acclaimed Berlin

"This
record figures on the famous Nurse With Wound list of influence and definitely
deserves its place !Ilitch is basically
multi-instrumentalist Thierry Muller, who uses guitars, synthesizers, and
other effects to create avant-garde music that
falls somewhere between Brian Eno, Conrad Schnitzler, and Heldon,
though more like the latter. On all but a couple tracks
working completely solo, Muller constructs soundscapes that
are entirely instrumental, minimal, and somewhat ambient,
though very edgy as well. The organ and deconstructed
guitar of the opening track from the original album sets the mood,
with tweaked-out bursts of noise, long drones,
and repetitive organ chords that are both bleak and mesmerizing, like a
much darker version of Tangerine Dream.
Certainly the closest comparison would again be Heldon, with similar pulsing electronic
sonic space visions,
though Ilitch is slightly less repetitive with tracks often developing into something else, and not
quite as bracingly
fearsome as some of Heldon's best work. Another similarity is Muller's guitar style, which like that
of Richard
Pinhas of Heldon is extremely unconventional, using the instrument more as a way of creating jarring textures
rather
than chords. The "Ballades Urbaines" tracks are mostly guitar texture, whereas on "A.B.ss" the guitar is even more
unrecognizable in the long drones.

as a day in Manhattan, and was named after the famous street of same name which hosted
many of the world's
premier jazz venues and performers throughout the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. Fans purchased over seven million
copies on the strength of the hits "My Life" (#3), "Big Shot" (#14), and "Honesty" (#24). This helped 52nd
Street
become Joel's first #1 album. "My Life" eventually became the theme song for a new US television sitcom,
Bosom Buddies,
which featured actor Tom Hanks in one of his earliest roles. 52nd Street was the first album to
be released on Compact
Disc in Japan (1982). The album won Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male and
Album of the Year.
Despite all
the cover art for the album showing Joel holding a trumpet, he does not play the instrument on
the album, though two tracks
on the album do feature trumpets. Freddie Hubbard plays two solos in "Zanzibar"
and joins Jon Faddis in the horn section
for "Half a Mile Away."

CAPTAIN LOCHLEED STARFIGHTERS - Robert Calvert
Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters was a 1974 satirical concept
album by Robert Calvert, the former frontman
of British space-rock band Hawkwind. It consists of a mixture of songs and
comic spoken interludes.
The concept was based on the German Air Ministry's purchase of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter,
colloquially
known as the Widowmaker. In German service these planes had a poor safety record, with 207 of almost 1,300
Luftwaffe Starfighters lost in accidents during the aircraft's time in service, which lasted from the early
1960s
until the mid 1980s. [1] The Starfighters had inherently challenging flight characteristics, possibly
made worse by a
number of ill-considered modifications made by the manufacturers at the behest of the Germans
in order to clinch the sale.
Musicians
who appeared on the album include members of Hawkwind, The Pink Fairies, Brian Eno (although not
credited as Eno), Arthur
Brown and Adrian Wagner. The spoken sketches are primarily performed by Calvert, Viv
Stanshall and Jim Capaldi.
"Ejection"
(coupled with "Catch a Falling Starfighter") was released as a single, although both songs are
slightly different versions
to those on the album. "The Widow's Song" was included in the libretto and Calvert
had hoped to record it with Nico singing.
It wasn't recorded at the time but it was eventually recorded in 1984
with Calvert's wife Jill Riches on lead vocals and
included on the Hawkwind, Friends and Relations compilation.
